Cartouche représentant le nom du pharaon Thoutmôsis III

Un cartouche, dans l'Égypte antique, était un symbole en hiéroglyphe dans lequel le nom d'un pharaon était inscrit au centre d'une boucle ovale.

C'est notamment grâce aux cartouches que Jean-François Champollion a su décoder l'écriture des Égyptiens.
